This course will provide participants with an overview of how to recruit volunteers to serve on their organization’s non-profit Board of Directors.  Key topics covered will include:

  • The challenges of recruiting Directors
  • Key traits that people should look for in Directors
  • Differences between general traits and specific traits
  • The need for both diversity and commonality
  • The need for a plan to recruit and an overview of a model plan

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the challenges associated with recruiting a volunteer to serve on a Board
  • List the key general traits that a Director should have
  • List some of the key specific traits that a Director in the participant’s organization should have
  • Recognize the importance of developing a plan for recruiting Directors
  • Comprehend the model plan for recruiting and be able to apply key elements of the plan in the participant’s organization.
